It’s pretty simple really. I need a creative outlet and blogging has been my outlet of choice for many years.
I blogged at The Geeky Shopaholic for many years. But when I started my own business in 2017, I didn’t have as much time for blogging, so TGS fell to the wayside.
Lately, though I’ve been feeling the itch to blog again, but The Geeky Shopaholic just didn’t feel like me anymore. I started that blog in my late 20s/early 30s and I was a different person then. True, I’m still a geek, but I’m no longer an irresponsible shopaholic! I’m a married woman with a wonderful husband, 2 dogs, a cat, a home of our own, and my own business.
My life has changed so much, and so have I.
So I wanted a new name. A name that would grow with me through all the decades to come and didn’t just fit one decade of my life. And I found it in Penned by Paula. I like this name. The blog and I can grow with it!
What Can You Expect From Penned By Paula
This will definitely be a lifestyle blog. Do those still exist?!
I don’t know.
But I do know that I write about the things I enjoy like books, movies, and TV shows. I write about my life. I share my opinions on topics of the day. I share my tips and life experiences. This is my place to write about what I need to write about. My creative outlet. That I hope you will find helpful and entertaining!
What I’m Doing Differently This Time Around
The Geeky Shopaholic was very much a hobby blog. I never made a dime off of it. (Not there’s anything wrong with that.) This one is a hobby blog too but I will try to monetize this time around. This will all be new to me and I’ll share what I learn on the journey. Making money won’t be the focus though. The focus will still be a place to write just because I love to write!
I also plan to not “SEO” every post. I didn’t fully understand SEO and how to use the Yoast Plugin when I was blogging at TGS. So I spent time really trying to make every post get green lights. Even posts no one would ever be searching for like a post of pictures of my dog Buffy.
This time I will put the SEO effort into evergreen posts that have topics people will actually be searching for. More personal posts won’t need that.
I also won’t be putting effort into Pinterest for posts that aren’t evergreen, Only the searchable ones. Actually, I may not put any effort into Pinterest at all. We’ll see.
I also won’t be spending time making fancy feature images. A beautiful picture that fits the topic is enough.
I want to make maintaining this blog as simple as possible. Like I said, my life is very different now, so I have limited time to spend on it and I need to make sure that I spend that time wisely.
